Lacobel Painted Glass for Furniture
Hi ID professionals,
As mentioned in previous article,
Lacobel is a brand of painted glass originated from AGC Europe. In Europe, the penetration of glass usage / application for
interior is already very high, its becoming a common thing there. The usage is
not only limited for wall covering / cladding, but also popular for furniture
as well.
I would like to highlight some
Lacobel application for furniture usages. Due to many applications, this
information would be disseminated in a few series.
Wardrobe is the most common
application for painted glass,
especially for its sliding doors. The sliding doors are made from combination of painted glass and aluminum frame. You can have the sense of depth because of the soft reflection of the glass and the color will accent the room with the mood you like.
especially for its sliding doors. The sliding doors are made from combination of painted glass and aluminum frame. You can have the sense of depth because of the soft reflection of the glass and the color will accent the room with the mood you like.
In this picture, Lacobel Pure
White is used. The bright white color is resulted from the extra clear glass
used during its production.
This picture also show similar application, you can see the difference highlight of its aluminum frame. Lacobel Luminous Red (will be available in Sept tentatively – Indonesia only) is used for this application.
The painted glass is usually
attached onto a wooden panel to strengthened it and to minimize breakage due to
impact.
However, it is common in Australia or Europe,
the usage of sliding doors without any wooden panel, so, its just painted glass
in an aluminum frame. For this application, the safety back need to be applied
for safety reason. In case of breakage, the safety back will hold together the
glass shards, thus minimize the risk. Please noted, that the safety back
application need to pass certain standard. Currently, AS/NZS 2208 standard,
grade A, is consider the strictest standard and made as a reference in Australia.
This picture is an interior
design of an apartment room in Slovenia.
Lacobel light beige and dark brown had been used to match the tone of the room,
its combined perfectly with the other materials in the room thanks to the
designer creativity. The lacobel acted as a sliding door which also served as a
partition between the room and the walk in wardrobe.
This is the 1st series
of the lacobel application for furniture, we’ll come back with more application.
Let us know if you have further
inquiry or want to share your idea, we’re looking forward to your feedback.

Painted Glass in Toilet Point of View
Hello!!
This
time I would like to introduce the usage of painted glass from a different
perspective. It’s the usage of painted glass in a “Toilet”, so, be prepared to
view “toilets” with style.
Painted
glass due to its superior ease of maintenance, is one of the wall material that
having more popular to be used in the toilet, especially in Europe.
Toilet
will look cleaner. Cleaning will be much easier, we can easily wipe off the
dirts. The glass smooth surface will help in the cleaning, just use a wet cloth
to clean it.
(Pic_1: A toilet in Europe)
Toilets
need to look clean, don’t trapped in that thought though. Other than clean,
painted glass can provide calm and fresh ambience. Painted glass will dramatize
the space make it more pleasant and refresh environment.
It
can be kept bright by the reflection of the illumination space, unique glass
with reflection effect.
(Pic_2: Toilets in Europe)
Painted glass will add sense of luxury in the toilet, even
compared to other luxury wall materials like granite, marble, etc. It is an
excellent choice to up the user convenience in
a toilet.
(Pic_3: European construction photo)
In Japan,
due to its limited space, many designers already started to incorporate glass
into their design. The usage of painted glass and combination with mirror is
one of the answer to make a wide space effect in a limited space of the toilet.
The reflection of the painted glass will brighten and give
spacious feeling. you can arrange the depth of reflection with lighting play as
well. Combination of both painted glass and mirror can strengthened the
feeling.
(Pic_4: A toilet in Japan)
One of the benefit of
painted glass is its maximum size, up to 3048x2134mm in standard size. With
this large panel, you can have less joints for wall cladding. Its more
versatile to your design.
(Pic_5: A toilet in Europe)
The
color in the painted glass will dramatize the toilet space, each color will
provide a different ambience, apparently white & black is the most common color, as the colors give
clean, cool, calm, and refreshing ambience.
Other
colors can also brighten the space, give the illuminating effects, and
combination with mirror will help to widen the space.
However,
the main feature of the painted glass is it ease of cleaning.
You
do want a clean and quite toilet to do your business, right ?
So, we hope its inspire you, let us know if you have any
inquiry….
Noted : the painted glass used in the
project reference is AGC’s Lacobel.
